On Thursday and Friday March 2nd and 3rd there will be several presentations in the USF Tampa Library related to digital scholarship. For those interested in these topics, please pass the word to fellow faculty members and students. The schedule of events in the Digital Media Commons is listed below.
Thursday, March 2, 2017
9:00-10:00am: Join in the fun at the DMC Petting Zoo and try out new cameras, lenses, 3D printing and VR while enjoying bagels, donuts, juice and coffee.
1:00-1:30pm: Learn about the process of creating e-textbooks and more from Dr. Jenifer Jasinski Schneider (Education).
1:30-2:45pm: How is 3D Digital Imaging changing the approaches to ancient material culture? Staff from CVAST and the students they worked with will tell you more about it!
3:00-4:00pm: What is Feminist Digital Humanities? Learn more from presenter Dr. Kristin Allukian (English)!
4:00-5:00pm: Using freely available tools, Dr. David Thomas (History) will demonstrate how students can explore questions which previously had not been possible, or even conceivable. At the same time, he will argue that the most illuminating moments do not occur when digital methods work perfectly.
5:00-6:00pm: Come hear Dr. Michael Decker (History) talk about his experiences working with USF Library faculty to transform student assignments from analog to digital exercises and what he learned from the experience!
